My Promise to My Birds
MY PROMISE TO THE BIRDS THAT OWN ME.
To be owned by a Parrot is a wonderful thought,
Truly a feeling that simply, cannot be bought
To be honoured by a Parrot giving you it’s trust and love
Is a gift that can only be granted from the parrot & him above.
To hold a Parrot close to you and know that it cares,
Teaches you compassion and the ability to share
To watch a Parrot that can feel the breeze ruffle its feathers
Teaches you the futility of restriction and tethers.
To listen to a Parrot as it talks and sings to you
Teaches communication experienced by just a few
To hold out your hand knowing that it is a perch they trust
Is for anyone owned by a Parrot is a must.
To hear it talk when it thinks that you cannot hear
Brings a smile but also a tear
For you know then that it simply wants to please you
And that its love is simple, uncomplicated and true
To feed it, to love it, to communicate,
Is all that it asks, in order to make a life long mate,
It makes no demands; it just needs care, love and TLC
That’s why being owned by a Parrot
IS SUCH A PRIVILEDGE FOR ME.
